Evaluation of the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy

Abstract

The Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy (DIPD) aims to contribute to strengthening democratic culture in individual political parties and multi-party systems in 14 developing countries. DIPD has been able to skillfully identify and make use of opportunities that open up. The projects have served as learning arenas that have given the participants the skills and self-confidence to take up political positions. Most successful in terms of results are the multi-party projects aiming at preparing the ground for the development of mutual respect among political adversaries and capacities to communicate across party lines.

Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy har som mål å bidra til å styrke demokratisk kultur i selvstendige politiske partier og flerpartisystemer i 14 utviklingsland. DIPD har vært dyktige til å identifisere og dra nytte av mulighetene som åpner seg opp for dem. Prosjektene har fungert som læringsarenaer som har gitt deltakerne ferdighetene og selvtilliten til å ta opp politiske verv. Den største suksessen i form av konkrete resultater ser vi i flerpartiprosjekter som søker å rede grunnen for utviklngen av gjensidig respekt mellom politiske fiender til å kommunisere på tvers av partilinjer.
