This paper gives a presentation of the World Bank, the African Development Bank, The Asian Development Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank current policies and organisation of their work on women empowerment and gender equality. The paper identifies a numer of "best practices"; and ends with a note on what bilateral donors may do to strengthen this work.
