Genetics and the environment have both been demonstrated to take part in the pathogenesis of migraine. Studying the epigenetic mechanisms underlying migraine can facilitate the understanding of the disorder, its chronification, and the factors that can be targeted for therapeutic purposes. The literature is accumulating on this topic, and the current status of the literature suggests that although limited, a piece of consistent evidence exists on the relationship between epigenetics and migraine. This chapter aims at demonstrating examples of what is known about the epigenetics of migraine and at motivating further research aimed to identify more effective therapeutic targets with the aid of epigenetics.en_US
