Designing for a sustainable future is not only a matter of craftsmanship in terms of delivering sustainable products and solutions. It also has a rhetorical side, implying that the consumer must be persuaded to choose the sustainable option. In this chapter, theories and examples of persuasiveness and rhetoric in design are related to notions of cultural sustainability. Recent debates on how play and game design may be employed as rhetorical tools are critically reviewed, and new perspectives are presented on how the playful and the persuasive combined form a particular kind of cultural sustainability .en
