| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Has Norwegian essayistic writing become too narrow, too apolitical, and too introverted? Should the essay be concerned with the real world outside itself? In this thesis, I explore essayistic writing in the communication of current events in society. All are about the real world. About the pandemic, politics, and polarisation. The essays are mainly based on written sources but also contain excerpts from conversations with friends in India, who experienced and survived the ravages of the pandemic. Three of the essays have the feel of reportage, containing reconstructed scenes. I discuss genre boundaries and take a closer look at the literary boundary between non-fiction and fiction. My exploration concludes that the essay has qualities that make it well-suited for communicating current events in society. | en_US |
