Children with autism often face challenges with following simple instructions in daily life. In collaboration with parents and preschool staff we wanted to teach a child with autism to follow instructions. We based it on “Errorless Compliance Training”. Six instructions were divided into 3 levels based on how often the child followed the instructions in baseline. We started teaching two instructions in level one, which was instructions the child followed 75-100% of the time. Then we went to level two which was two instructions that the child followed 50-75% of the time, and finally level threw, which was two instructions the child only followed 25-50% of the time. Our results showed that the child followed 6 of 6 instructions in the test after teaching. Three out of six instructions were also followed when another person gave them, while all instructions were followed across different settings. The combination of "Errorless Compliance training" and token-economy appears to be a promising procedure for teaching children with autism to follow instructions. The procedure appears to be an easily implemented and a socially acceptable way of establishing the instruction following.en
