The world community has experienced several economic crises in recent times, and the financial industry has received a lot of the blame. In addition, the globalization has contributed to increased power and influence for financial institutions. Corporate social responsibility has received more attention in light of these events. In this study, we examine corporate social responsibility among norwegian financial institutions. We have applied the following perspectives and approaches: instrumental, in which the organization focuses on wealth creation; political, in which the organization focuses on active participation in the society; integrative, in which the organization focuses on integrating social demands as part of their core business practice; ethical, in which the organization focuses on stakeholder interests. Our findings indicates that the financial industry is not as profit seeking as assumed. In fact, the financial industry seems to be focused on core issues and themes such as sustainability, climate, environment, pollution, global warming and ethics.en
