Åpen tilgang holdninger og praksis hos vitenskapelige ansatte. En undersøkelse av åpen tilgang kjennskap, holdninger og praksis hos naturvitenskapelig/matematisk og humanistisk fakultet ved UiO og NTNU

Abstract

I denne masteroppgaven har jeg undersøkt åpen tilgang kjennskap, holdninger og praksis hos vitenskapelige ansatte ved humanistisk og naturvitenskapelig fakultet ved UiO og NTNU. Dataene ble samlet inn gjennom et semistrukturert spørreskjema. Studien viser at et flertall respondenter er kjent med åpen tilgang begreper, det institusjonelle arkivet, universitetets åpen tilgang policy og åpne tidsskrift på sitt fagfelt. Nesten halvparten var kjent med de nye nasjonale mål og retningslinjene for åpen tilgang til vitenskapelige artikler. Omtrent halvparten mente at det er viktig til å bidra til det institusjonelle arkivet, og at åpne og tradisjonelle tidsskrift holder samme kvalitetsnivå. Et flertall av respondentene med kjennskap til det institusjonelle arkivet har deponert til det, og et flertall har publisert i åpne tidsskrift. Nesten alle respondentene bruker digitale arkiver og åpne tidsskrift som informasjonskilder. Det var forskjeller mellom respondentene fra de to fagfeltene og universitetene.

In this master thesis, I surveyed scientific staff at University of Oslo and Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The purpose of the survey was to examine open access awareness, attitudes and current practice among scientific staff belonging to the humanities faculty and the natural sciences faculty at the two universities. The data was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire. The survey shows that a majority of the respondents is aware of open access terms, the institutional repository, the university open access policy and open access journals in their field of study. Almost half of the respondents was aware of the new national goal and guidelines for open access to scientific articles. About half also considered it important to contribute to the institutional repository, and that open access and traditional journals are of the same quality. A majority of the respondents that are aware of the institutional repository has deposited to it, and a majority has published in open access journals. Almost all of the respondents use digital archives and open access journals as information sources. There were differences between respondents form the two disciplines and the two univerisites.
