Virtual machine initiated operations logic for resource management

Abstract

This thesis takes a look at an alternative approach to resource management using virtual- ization. The paper makes an attempt at looking at some administrative issues that arise due to current designs of virtualization management especially in multi-tenant virtual hosting environments and possibility of taking advantage of different kinds of offers from different providers through automated operations logic driven management. The alternative approach investigated is to hand decision making of operations logic over to the virtual machine as opposed to the virtual infrastructure itself. Being able to do this would mean that management policy can be maintained when transition between different sites is made.
