Hverdagsforankrede praksiser - Barnevernsarbeiderens erfaringer med familiesamtalen i barnevernet

Abstract

Denne studien er kvalitativ og tar utgangspunkt i barnevernsarbeiderens erfaringer med familiesamtaler i barnevernet. Formålet med undersøkelsen er å få mer innsikt i hva som kan kjennetegne profesjonelle praksiser knyttet til bruk av familiesamtalen i barnevernet. Analysen av materialet er fortolkende og gjøres ved hjelp av systemisk perspektiv fra familieterapi og makt som teoretisk perspektiv. Studien viser at barn lettere deltar i familiesamtalen ved at barnevernsarbeideren snakker med barnet om barnets konkrete hverdagsliv. Et annet sentralt funn er at barnets deltakelse i familiesamtalen bringer nye perspektiver og endringsmuligheter for både barna og omsorgspersonene. Undersøkelsen viser at samtaler mellom barn og foreldre og barnevernsarbeideren bidrar til åpenhet og sammenheng for barnet, og at barnet utvikler sin forståelse og synspunkter gjennom familiesamtalen. Det drøftes muligheter og dilemmaer ved bruk av familiesamtalen og barnesamtalen og hvordan de strukturelle rammene i barnevernet kan påvirke dette. Det settes spørsmålstegn ved om bruk av manualbaserte samtaleformer kan redusere en utforskende praksis av barns deltakelse i familiesamtalen.

The theme of this study is childrens participation in family sessions within the context of the Child protection services in Norway. It is a qualitative study based on the child protection worker's stories of their experiences with family sessions, meetings with parents and children together in the same room. The purpose of the survey is to gain more insight into what may characterize professional practices related to the use of family sessions in child protection. The analysis of the material is interpretive and done using systemic perspective of family therapy and power as theoretical perspectives. The study shows that children easily participate in family sessions if the child protection worker talks directly with the child about the child's specific everyday living. Another key finding is that the child's participation in family sessions brings new perspectives and change opportunities for both children and caregivers. The survey shows that conversations between children, parents, and child protection workers contribute to the transparency and may give some consistency for the child, and that the child develops their understanding of the situation they are within. The thesis discusses the possibilities and dilemmas using family sessions, and how the structural and legal framework of the Child protection services can affect this. It is questioned if the use of manual-based conversation forms can reduce the practice of children's participation in family sessions.
