The Occupational Questionnaire (OQ) is aninstrument used in registration and assessment ofactivities to investigate the subjective qualities ofactivities, originally developed in the USA in 1986.Later on, the instrument has been translated intomany languages and has been used in occupationaltherapy research, education, and practice. PreviousNorwegian translations of the OQ appear not tohave adhered to established procedures and standardsfor translation and cross-cultural adaption ofinstruments. The aim of this article is to describe theprocess of developing a Norwegian version of theOQ, a process performed in line with recommendedprocedures for cultural translation and adaptationof patient reported outcome measures. The processincluded using two pilot samples (total n = 85) toinvestigate the feasibility of two consecutive versionsof the translated OQ. With this article, the endproduct, Kartlegging av Dine Aktiviteter (KDA), islaunched as a relevant instrument for activity registrationand assessment of the subjective qualitiesof activities, for use among occupational therapistsand occupational therapy researchers in Norway.
