Materialbruk i faget Kunst og håndverk - i forhold til et bærekraftig danningsperspektiv

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven tar for seg materialbruk i faget Kunst og håndverk i forhold til et bærekraftig perspektiv. Hensikten med oppgaven er å sette større fokus på mulighetene og viktigheten av en bærekraftig praksis rundt materialbruk i faget Kunst og håndverk. Fagets aktualitet knyttes opp mot samfunnets behov for ansvarsfulle forbrukere og reflekterte samfunnsborgere for en bedre fremtid. Fokuset i oppgaven rettes mot å avdekke hvordan læreren i Kunst og håndverk praktiserer deres materialbruk i forhold til et bærekraftig perspektiv, og hvorfor praktiseringen er som den er. Det vitenskapsteoretiske ståstedet for denne undersøkelsen er kritisk realisme, og den forskningsstrategiske metoden som danner grunnlag for empirien er kvalitativt intervju. Problemstillingen som danner grunnlaget for undersøkelsen og drøftingen er; Hvordan beskriver og begrunner kunst og håndverkslærere i grunnskolen deres praktisering av materialbruk i forhold til et bærekraftig perspektiv, og hva kan ligge til grunn for deres uttalelser? Fire Kunst og håndverkslærere fra barneskolen har deltatt i intervjusamtaler hvor de har fortalt om sin praktisering med materialer i faget. I disse samtalene kom det frem at lærerne ikke utnytter fagets potensiale til å undervise om bærekraftig materialbruk. Lærernes svar i undersøkelsen pekte i retning av både eksterne rammefaktorer som styringsdokumenter og interne rammefaktorer som skolenes miljøsatsinger, bedriftsøkonomi og kulturen i kollegiet, da de begrunnet sitt manglende fokus på bærekraftig bruk av materialer i undervisningssituasjonen. For å belyse problemstillingen og tematikken inneholder masteroppgaven en egen praktisk-estetisk del, hvor det å lage papir av papirsøppel, med teknikken teknologisk-gjenvinning, utforskes en mulig måte å jobbe med bærekraftig materialbruk i faget.

This thesis examines the use of materials in the subject Arts and Crafts in relation to a sustainable perspective. The purpose of the exercise is to put greater focus on the possibilities and the importance of sustainable practices around the use of materials in the subject Arts and Crafts. The subjects’ actuality is linked to society's need for responsible consumers and reflected citizens for a better future. The focus of the thesis is aimed at uncovering how the teacher in Arts and crafts use of materials in relation to a sustainable perspective, and why the practice is as it is. The scientific theory standpoint for this survey is critical realism, and the strategic research method, which forms the basis for empirical data, is qualitative interview. The problem forming the basis of the survey and the discussion; How to describes and justifies Arts and Crafts primary teachers their practice of use of materials in relation to a sustainable perspective, and what is their reasons behind their statements? Four Arts and Crafts teachers from elementary school participated in interview conversations where they talked about their practice with materials in the subject. In these interviews it emerged that the teachers do not exploit the subjects potential to teach about sustainable use of materials. Teachers' responses in the survey pointed to both external frame factors, like governing documents, and internal frame factors that schools environmental initiatives, business and the culture of the collegiate, as they justified their lack of focus on sustainable use of materials in the teaching situation. In order to investigate and explore these themes, the thesis contains a practical-aesthetic part, where making paper of paper trash is explored as a possible way to work with sustainable materials in the subject, through the technique of technological recycling.
