Master i rehabilitering og habiliteringen
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to increase awareness and understanding of professionals’ experiences and approaches to collaboration and service provision for patients with traumatic brain injury and multi trauma. The thesis is part of a larger project “Transitions in rehabilitation: Biographical reconstruction, experiential knowledge and professional expertise”. The findings presented in the master’s thesis are based on focus group interviews in municipal coordinating units and local NAV offices. Theoretical grounding: The Master's thesis is applies institutional logic. There are several actors with different focus areas and approaches working together across services. Theory of inter-organizational complexity is also relevant for looking at different aspects of collaborations between the actors and what makes such collaborations challenging. Theory of interdisciplinary collaboration was useful as interprofessional collaboration is needed to provide continuity of service between organizational levels of working with TBI and multi trauma rehabilitation. Method: The study had a qualitative approach where 4 focus group interviews were conducted with municipal coordinating units and local NAV offices. The focus group discussions were framed by a vignette with a case of a fictional person who suffered from traumatic brain injury after an accident. The analysis of the data material is framed by “Thematic Analysis”. Results / Conclusion: The findings show the need for coordinated collaboration and integrated services between the local NAV offices and primary health care and the need for establishing collaboration models between the actors that promote work-life participation and quality of life among patients with TBI and multi trauma. The findings also recognized collaborative challenges related to communication between the services. The data refers to key components such as meeting places, the opportunity for knowledge and information exchange and available electronic communication at different levels.en
