Log your eating habits
Abstract
Maintaining healthy eating habits is vital for the overall health and well-being of individuals across all age groups. Mobile applications have become increasingly popular tools for logging eating habits, but challenges such as complex meal logging processes and user-unfriendly designs limit their widespread adoption. This study presents LogYourEatingHabits, a mobile application developed to simplify meal logging while focusing on both meal and eating habits. Significant emphasis was placed on ensuring high usability and accessibility, enabling the application to be used by a broad range of user groups.
Using a user-centered design approach, the application was developed and iteratively refined with input from 16 participants across five iterations. Each iteration provided valuable insights, resulting in enhancements such as improved interface consistency, interaction of user interfaces, and increased intuitiveness and user-friendliness. The System Usability Scale (SUS) scores demonstrated progressive improvements across iterations, complemented by observation and interview findings, which collectively indicated high perceived usability among participants. Future developments will focus on expanding the food database, optimizing the image recognition feature, and delivering personalized feedback based on the data collected within the application.
