This study is a qualitative research study that goes in depths figuring out how junior high school and the outreach team cooperates to prevent crime among youth in Oslo. To figure out how this research study contains qualitative interviews with environmental therapists from school and the outreach team. For the interviews I have used a thematic analysis, this is an approach to identify and analyze themes in the interview material. The empirical evidence is seen in the light of Urie Bronfenbrenner’s system levels. Through the analysis, I came across three main causes: “low income”, “accessibility, presence, visibility” and “building relationships”. The cooperation between the environmental therapists at junior high schools and the outreach team is a central factor to prevent youth crimes because the majority of the youth they meet comes from families with low income and challenges such as cramped living and little access to activities. To connect with this specific group of youths and to establish measures, such as activities and groups to prevents youth crime, the outreach team depends on the environmental therapist to includes them in their work at the school and to give them space to come along as well as to do outreach work at school. With this they would be visible to the youth and become recognizable faces. Hence, the environmental therapist functions as a collaboration cooperative between the different sections of the auxiliary device around the youths, and since the outreach team is not an obligated service by law, it is important that they`re invited in by the environmental therapists. By being visible and available at school, the youth becomes familiar with the outreach team and they’re more likely to create trust outside of school. The environmental therapist knows what kind of youth to keep an eye out for in the local community. When the outreach team is included within the activities with the environmental therapist as well with the outreach work they do at school, it becomes easier to create a relation to the youth. The relations they form from being visible at school will help them in the work they do outside of school. A close and well-thought cooperative between the two sectors creates safe adults that the youth trusts in the local community and at junior high school.en_US
