Scholars agree that there is a connection between William Blake and Nick Cave. However, not much research has been carried out in order to establish what this connection is all about. In both Blake and Cave there is a close relationship between imagination and poetry. In this study I investigate the role and meaning of the imagination in Blake and Cave. I found that there are similarities between the two poets when they describe the imagination as divine, and how they use the imagination to interpret the Biblical universe in nontraditional and surprising ways. As with Blake, Cave also writes that the imagination enables him to take part in a transcendent dimension, and he describes creating poetry as conversations with the divine.en_US
