Familieterapeuters forståelse av terapeutposisjon, problem og endring - en vignettstudie med familieterapeuter i Familiens hus

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven er en vignettstudie med fem familieterapeuters handlingstendenser knyttet til terapeutposisjon, problem og endring i konteksten Familiens hus. Familieterapi og systemteori har vært opptatt av å tenke helhet. Hovedfokus har vært på det som er imellom mennesker. Med det menes at familieterapeuter har søkt å undersøke hvilken sammenheng et fenomen opptrer i. Familiens hus er et lavterskel tilbud til barn, unge og deres familier i flere norske kommuner. Målet er rett hjelp, til rett tid, på rett sted. Stadig flere familieterapeuter arbeider i denne konteksten. Problemstillingen som besvares er: Hvordan kommer forståelsen av terapeutposisjon, problem og endring til utrykk hos familieterapeuter? To forskningsspørsmål ble brukt i tilnærmingen til materialet: 1) Hvilke handlingstendenser viser seg i forhold til terapeutposisjon, problem og endring? 2) Hvordan virker Familiens hus som kontekst inn på familieterapeuters handlingstendenser? Familieterapi og systemisk tenkning har utviklet seg over en periode på over 50 år. Det finnes et variert repertoar av svært mange effektive metoder og retninger som en familieterapeut kan benytte seg av i møte med klienter og familier. Teorigrunnlaget denne studien bygger på er de hovedretningene det i dag undervises i ved videreutdanninger for familieterapeuter. Studien viser familieterapeuters handlingstendenser med utgangspunkt i en vignett. Vignetten illustreres med en familie som har søkt Familiens hus om hjelp til å håndtere sin livssituasjon. Funnene viser informantenes handlingstendenser i samtalen med denne familien. Handlingstendensene kan forstås som informantenes uttrykk på faglighet i møte med klienter som vignetten beskriver. Samlet viser funnene at informantenes handlingstendenser i hovedsak knytter seg til de språksystemiske og narrative retningene i familieterapifeltet. I funnene fremkommer også handlingstendenser som knytter seg til andre teoretiske retninger i familieterapien.

This master project is a vignette study with five family therapists action tends attached to therapist’s position problem and change in the context Family Centers. Family therapy and systems theory have been keen to think overall. The main focus has been the relation between people. By that it is meant that family therapists have sought to investigate which connection a phenomenon occurs in. The Family Centers is a low-threshold Services for children, young people and their families in several Norwegian councils. The main goal is the right help, on time, at the right place. More and more family therapists are working in this context. The problem to be answered is: How does the understanding of the therapist’s position, problem and change come to expression of the family therapist’s? Two research questions were used in the approach to the material: 1) Which action trends shows in the relation to the therapist`s position, problem and change? 2) How does the Family Centers work as a context for family therapist`s action trend`s? Family therapy and systemic thinking has evolved over a period of over 50 years. There is a varied repertoire of many effective methods and directions a family therapist can make use of, in many ways with clients and families. The theoretical basis for which this study is based of are the main directions currently taught in further education for family therapist`s. The study shows family therapist`s action trends based on a vignette. The vignette is illustrated by a family who has applied to the Family Center for help in managing their life situation. The findings show the informants action trends in this conversation. The action trends can be understood as the informant`s expression of professionalism in the face of the clients described by the vignette. Overall, the findings show that the informant`s action trends mainly relate to the language systemic and narrative directions in the family renown field. The findings also reveal action trends that relate to other theoretical directions in the family therapy.
