The pull and push factors in the acceptability and use of contraceptives among women in the Kwabre-east district of Ghana.

Abstract

This study explores why some women are able to use contraceptives and why others are not able to use contraceptives in relation to pregnacies in the Kwabre East District of Ghana. The study employs the qualitative method of research and the main data collection instrument is in-depth face-to-face interview. Data from the field was analyzed with existiing literatures and the results show that the main factors influencing contraceptives use are based on socio-cultural, environmental, contextual, and religious. some of these factors are: the side effects of some of the contraceptives, poor education on the use of contraceptives, the cultures of silence, geographical accessibility, cost, and relligion.
