A Life Cycle Assessment, LCA, including modules A1-A3, Product, B4, Replacement and B6, Operational energy use, was performed for the environmental impacts on Climate change/Global Warming Potential. The LCA calculations were performed for three different cases, case 1 with centralized ventilation system, case 2 with centralized ventilation system with lover occupancy factor and case 3 with decentralized ventilation system.
The result from the LCA shows that the difference between the cases is small. Case 1 have a Global Warming Potential, GWP, of 122,81 kgCO2-eq/m2, case 2 have a GWP of 122,53 kgCO2-eq/m2 and decentralized system in case 3 has the lowest GWP of 120,75 kgCO2-eq/m2 calculated for Scenario 1 – NO mix. Case 3 is 1,7% lower than case 1. The main contributors to the difference in GWP are Air Handling Units and main ducts from the floors to the AHU, to outdoor air intake and exhaust. Where case 1 and 2 have less GWP for AHU than case 3. However, for ducts it is opposite.
