dc.description.abstractObjective: Clinical practice consists of half of the nursing curriculum and it´s a vital part of preparing students for their future profession. Identifying stressors during the clinical settings could enhance student´s learning abilities, promote personal and professional development and contribute to a better quality in the clinical setting. Aim: The aim of this study is to explore and provide better insight in the student’s experience of stress in clinical practice. Design: This is a qualitative research, where data derived from semi-structured interviews of 10 Norwegian nursing students in Oslo, Norway. The participants were recruited during the summer/fall of 2020, and the analyzing process was inspired by Braun and Clarke´s Thematic Analysis. Result: Four main themes emerged from the interviews; Inadequate clinical supervision, clinical evaluation process, high academic demands and inappropriate treatment of students in the clinical placement. Conclusion: Nursing students experience a variety of stressors during their clinical practice, and as suggested by the findings, it can be useful to evaluate these factors where educators and clinical instructors can offer interventions and strategies for a more optimal practice experience with less stress and more focus on adequate learning.en_US
