dc.description.abstract | This master’s thesis aims to provide a theoretical framework for understanding the concept of information flow in Norwegian Government services with the use of relevant models from the information sciences. The study is focusing on the employees at a home care service in one of the City Districts in Oslo. The aim of the investigation is to examine the employee’s assessments of the information flow in the municipal services, and how it affects their everyday work tasks. The municipal home care services in the city of Oslo have implemented a trust-based management model called the Trust Model, and a part of this investigation is designated to review information flow and knowledge sharing in the context of this team-based management model.
The research question of the thesis is as follows; “In what way is the information flow in the municipal home care services affected by the organizational framework of the Trust Model, the employee`s information use and knowledge sharing in the execution of their work tasks?
This research is designed as a qualitative case study with the use of individual interviews and thought experiments with 9 participants from different fields of work in the home care services. A document analysis of relevant political and municipal content was also used as a research method.
The empirical findings of this thesis show the importance of information flow in every aspect of the employees workday. Furthermore, this project contributes valuable knowledge of what factors that is facilitating or preventing information flow and knowledge sharing in team-based, cross disciplinary organizations in Norwegian healthcare services. | en_US |
