In cultural policies, Norwegian libraries are asked to disseminate digital games to the public, since librarians already have competence in cultural dissemination. It is also noted that librarians lack competence in games and game-dissemination. By interviewing ten library workers whom all have practical experience with game-dissemination, this study aims to answer how games are disseminated in Norwegian libraries and how the library workers understand the term “game-dissemination”, as well as answering research questions about competence, challenges and what games are disseminated. Game-dissemination is understood the same as dissemination of other media but is associated with other methods of dissemination. Because games are interactive, game-dissemination is both dissemination of the ludic elements (how you play the game) and the narrative elements (what the game tells us). The term game-dissemination also have a cultural and political dimension, since a lot of the work the library workers do, is about legitimizing the game as a media in the library. The study concludes that it is necessary to raise the competence in dissemination of games, especially the ludic elements.
