Bibliotekkonseptet speilet i arkitekturen : en analyse av Nye Deichman og Multimediehuset i Århus

Abstract

Temaet for denne oppgaven er biblioteksarkitektur og tar utgangspunkt i de to prosjektene Nye Deichman i Oslo og Multimediehuset i Århus, to prosjekt under planlegging. I forhold til disse to prosjektene undersøkes følgende problemstilling : ”Hvordan speiles bibliotekets roller og funksjoner i nyere biblioteksarkitektur?” Oppgaven er firedelt, der første del omhandler hvordan bibliotekets roller og funksjoner defineres i kravspesifikasjonene og evalueringsrapportene i arkitektkonkurransen. Deretter diskuteres disse funnene i forhold til utvalgte bibliotekideologier. I selve analysen av byggene diskuteres det hvordan disse ideologiene speiles i bygningene, og den avsluttes med en sammenligning av de to prosjektene. Oppgaven konkluderer med at det kan sies å være en tydelig sammenheng mellom organisasjonens roller og funksjoner og den fysiske strukturen, men at dette resultatet er avhengig av godt samarbeid mellom arkitekter og bibliotekfaglige i planleggingsfasen.

The theme of this thesis is library buildings and library architecture. The plans for the two new libraries, Nye Deichman in Oslo and Multimediehuset in Århus are anlysed to answer the following question:” In what way is the concept of libraries reflected in library architecture?” The thesis consists of four parts. The first part deals with the documents from the competition to find what architect should design the building, and is followed by a discussion of the results in relation to certain library ideologies. In the analysis of the buildings as they are planned, I discuss how these ideologies are reflected in the building, and the analysis is ended by comparing the two projects. The thesis concludes that there is a correlation between the roles and services of the library and its physical structure, but this is however highly dependent on close cooperation between the architects and library professionals.
