Strikking i dialog mellom tradisjon og samtid.

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven rettes fokus på strikking i dialog mellom tradisjon og samtid. For å komme nærmere en forståelse av hvordan strikking kan være del av både tradisjon og samtid, samt hvordan dette kan brukes stiller jeg følgende problemstilling: På hvilke måter kan strikking brukes til å skape dialog mellom tradisjon og samtid? Hermeneutikk som vitenskapsteoretisk ståsted danner rammen for oppgavens problemstilling, forskningsstrategi og forklaringsperspektiv. Problemstillingen belyses gjennom en intervjuundersøkelse med syv informanter som har strikking enten som yrke, hobby, personlig interesse eller erfaring. Informantenes utsagn presenteres ut fra perspektiver i tilknytning strikking, tradisjon og samtid. Disse vil sammen med teoretiske perspektiver danne grunnlag for egen drøfting og refleksjon. Undersøkelsen tar for seg en balansering og vekselvirkning mellom strikkingens tilknytning til tradisjon og samtid. Likheter, forskjeller, årsaksforklaringer og muligheter drøftes og tolkes i samsvar med teoretiske perspektiver i lys av en samfunnskontekst. Jeg søker å finne en sammenheng mellom tradisjon og samtid innen strikking. Hensikten er å se på hvilke potensialer dette kan gi med tanke på ny utvikling og forståelse av egen kultur og tilhørighet.

This master’s thesis is about knitting in dialogue between tradition and the contemporary, in Norway. To get a better understanding of how knitting can be part of both past and present, and how this can be used, the following inquiry is focused on: In what ways can knitting be used to create dialogue between tradition and the contemporary? This theises research strategy and prespectives are founded in the scientific direction of hermeneutics. This will be the frame of the theisis research question, strategy and explanatory perspective. The research question will be examined through interviews of seven informants with knitting either as a profession, hobby, personal interest or experience. The informants`statements will be presented form perspectives on knitting, tradition and the contemporary. These will together with relevant theory represent the basis for discussion and reflection. The study will deal with a balance and interaction between knitting in connection with tradition and contemporary. Similarities, differences, causal explanations and possibilities will be discussed and interpreted together with theoretical perspectives in a Norwegian society context. I am searching for a connection or interplay between tradition and the contemporary. The purpose is to look at potentials that this can give in new development and understanding of culture and own affiliation.
